The 1.95m tall Greek with quick feet is playing his trade in Bulgaria. After spending time at Aris Thessaloniki's academies, he played in the Greek third tier with Thyella Filota in 2015. Olympiakos held talks with Stergiakis but the goalkeeper wanted first-team football and chose to go on trial with Slavia Sofia. After impressing the goalkeeping coach, Stergiakis signed a five-year contract. In July he travelled to Trigoria for a trial with Roma but turned down the offer to move to the primavera squad and on 21 August 2016 made his league debut for Slavia, as a substitute against their local rivals Levski Sofia.
